Altair 8800 Display Connector pcb
Altair 8800 Display Connector pcb Altair 8800 computer display and control board connector pcb.

It is intended to allow the display board to be easily connected to the computer by plugging into a spare backplane slot.

It can of course also be used for fault finding by allowing easy connection to the backplane and also for other devices that use the same sort of edge connector.

The larger holes are to allow the cable bundle to be cable tied to the board or to allow the board to be bolted to larger boards for development etc.

Note
that these can also be used to make an 'extender' by fitting wires and attaching them to an edge connector
You can then plug a board into the 8800 while laying it on the bench for testing.
